Ex-NFL Star Cam Newton Asserts Women’s ‘Worth’ Diminishes With Motherhood
Cam Newton, the former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, has stirred the pot once again with his candid remarks about women and motherhood. During an episode of the podcast “It’s Giving” hosted by Sarah Fontenot, Newton was directly asked whether he believes a woman’s worth decreases as she has more children.
“I just think that the reality of that answer is that women’s value gets lowered the more children that they have,” he stated unequivocally on February 18. This assertion comes from a man who himself is a father to seven biological children and two stepchildren, whom he embraces as his own.
In a revealing conversation with one of his children’s mothers, Newton shared his perspective: “I was telling her, ‘The guy that you’re dating or will date, if he ain’t willing to love on these five children that you have, he ain’t the guy for you.’” His comments reflect a complex view of relationships and parenting, emphasizing acceptance and responsibility.
Newton elaborated on his commitment to the mothers of his children—Kia Proctor, LaReina Shaw, and Jasmine Brown—expressing gratitude for their roles in his life. “It’s real love. I owe a service to them,” he remarked. “I will forever be indebted to them because no matter how they make me feel, once I come back to the ground of, ‘Yo, that’s still the mother of my children.’” His words suggest a blend of admiration and acknowledgment of the challenges they face together.

He continued, “We can have our spats, but when we leave this door, you’ll never necessarily know.” This insight into their dynamic hints at a deeper understanding of co-parenting amidst personal conflicts. “It’s just our toxic thrill,” he added, indicating a complicated yet enduring bond.
This isn’t the first time Newton has made headlines for his controversial views on women. Just days prior, during a February 13 episode of his “Funky Friday” podcast, he claimed he cannot maintain platonic friendships with women. “I’m not about to be around no women platonically,” he asserted. “If she fine, I’m not about to have her around playing that I don’t think that she’s attractive.”
In 2022, Newton further ignited discussions on gender roles during an appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast. He stated that women should “cook” and “be quiet,” suggesting that a woman’s role involves catering to a man’s needs while also being self-sufficient. “Now a woman for me is handling your own but knowing how to cater to a man’s needs,” he explained. His comments drew criticism for perpetuating traditional gender stereotypes.
After backlash, Newton attempted to clarify his stance, stating that he meant one should not expect much from others while contributing little in return. He acknowledged that men also need to recognize when to be quiet, indicating a desire for mutual respect in relationships.
As Newton continues to navigate public discourse surrounding gender and parenting, his statements remain polarizing, reflecting broader societal debates about family dynamics and gender expectations.
