Hillary Clinton Claims Trump Administration Engaged in Epstein Files "Cover-Up"

Washington — Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has leveled serious accusations against the Trump administration, alleging a "continuing cover-up" regarding the release of documents tied to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"There's something about this administration's attitude toward this, which I think really leads us to conclude they have something to hide," Clinton stated in a recent interview with the BBC. "We don't. We have been willing to say whatever we know. We've even done it under oath."

Clinton is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on February 26 as part of its investigation into Epstein. Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, is set to follow with his deposition the next day. Notably, neither has been accused of any wrongdoing.

The Clintons' upcoming appearances come after a protracted negotiation period that nearly resulted in a contempt of Congress vote against them for failing to comply with a subpoena. Just as the full House was poised to vote on the resolution, which had bipartisan support, the Clintons agreed to the committee's terms.

Despite this agreement, the Clintons have expressed a desire for their testimonies to be public. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, indicated that public testimony could be a possibility following the private depositions.

"We will show up, but we think it would be better to have it in public," Clinton reiterated during her BBC interview.

In January, the Clintons submitted sworn declarations detailing their interactions with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving time for sex trafficking. Hillary Clinton emphasized that she does not recall ever meeting Epstein, asserting that her husband's connections were strictly related to philanthropic efforts through the Clinton Foundation.

Bill Clinton has previously stated that Epstein provided his private plane for charity-related travel between 2002 and 2003 and that he had no contact with Epstein for over a decade prior to Epstein's 2019 arrest.

"We have no links. We have a very clear record that we've been willing to talk about," Hillary Clinton said. "My husband has said he took some rides on the airplane for his charitable work. I don't recall ever meeting him."

She acknowledged meeting Maxwell "on a few occasions" through foundation activities but maintained that their knowledge of both figures is "very limited and totally unrelated to their behavior or their crimes."

Clinton accused Comer of compelling their depositions "to protect" President Trump, who is also mentioned in the Epstein files and has denied any wrongdoing. She pointed out that other former officials subpoenaed in the inquiry have not been subjected to similar pressure.

"We have nothing to hide. We have called for the full release of these files repeatedly," she asserted. "Get the files out. They are slow-walking it. They are redacting the names of men who are in it. They are stonewalling legitimate requests from members of Congress. That has nothing to do with us. Something is going on. They know it. I know it."

Clinton warned that lawmakers might not appreciate her comments if the committee proceeds with private depositions.

"I have very strong opinions about what it is they're hiding and who they are protecting," she stated. "Why do they want to pull us into this? To divert attention from President Trump. This is not complicated."

In response to Clinton's claims of being used as a distraction, Trump told reporters, "I have nothing to hide." He added, "I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein."
