Meet the Family of Figure Skating Legend Scott Hamilton: His Wife and Four Kids

Scott Hamilton, a name synonymous with figure skating excellence, has embraced fatherhood with the same passion that earned him Olympic gold. Since hanging up his skates in 1984, he has dedicated himself to his family.

In 2002, Scott married Tracie Hamilton, and together they have raised four children. Their journey began with the birth of their sons, Aidan in September 2003 and Maxx in January 2008. Six years later, they expanded their family through adoption, bringing siblings Jean Paul and Evelyne from Haiti into their home.

While navigating the joys of parenthood, Scott faced significant health challenges. Diagnosed with testicular cancer, he underwent surgery and treatment, achieving remission by 1997. However, his battle continued as doctors identified brain cancer in both 2004 and 2010, leading to further surgical interventions. In 2016, a third tumor was discovered, but Scott opted against additional surgery.

Reflecting on his health journey in a November 2025 interview, Scott expressed optimism: “Life is great. I’m living fully, living healthy, living without restriction.” His resilience shines through as he prepares to serve as a figure skating analyst for the upcoming 2026 Olympics in Italy.

Scott and Tracie’s home in Nashville is filled with laughter and love as they raise their four children. Aidan took on the role of big brother when Maxx arrived, and Tracie’s connection to Jean Paul began during her volunteer work in Haiti. Two years later, she and Scott welcomed him into their family.

In 2014, they adopted Jean Paul’s younger sister Evelyne, completing their family unit. Tracie shared her joy with Today, stating, “It’s been really fun having a girl, and she’s so joyful. It has been beautiful, it has been challenging, it has been amazing, it has been hard. It has been such a blessing and it’s been everything we expected it would be.”

Scott’s own story of adoption began when he was just six weeks old. His mother Dorothy passed away from breast cancer in 1977, an experience that inspired his 2020 children’s book, Fritzy Finds a Hat. His father Ernest died in 2015 from a heart attack. Scott also has two siblings who share in his journey.
