Jake Paul Undergoes Second Jaw Surgery Following 'Double Break' in Boxing Match

Feb 22 2026

Jake Paul is once again in the operating room, this time to address complications from his broken jaw.

“Had to get another jaw surgery,” Paul, 29, shared on Instagram on February 20. “The screws and plates were coming loose because apparently I didn’t rest for the past 2 months whaattttttttt.”

His latest update featured images of him in a hospital bed and undergoing an MRI. Accompanying him was his fiancée, Jutta Leerdam, who was seen pushing him in a wheelchair.

Leerdam, an Olympic speed skater, recently clinched a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics held in Milan, Italy.

In a quirky twist, Paul included AI-generated videos showcasing his “new jaw,” featuring a robotic chrome design. One clip humorously depicted him removing his lower jaw to reveal a mechanical mechanism before reattaching it and declaring, “Good as new.”

The injury occurred during his knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua on December 19, 2025, where he sustained fractures in two locations of his jaw, leading to immediate hospitalization.

“Broken jaw guys thanks for all the support I’m ok,” he wrote in a December Instagram post announcing the injury, which also featured an x-ray highlighting the double break.

Despite the setback, Paul quickly returned to action. He traveled to the Netherlands later that month to support Leerdam in her Olympic qualifying race. Although she fell during the event, she managed to qualify for the 2026 Olympics.

“It’s really, really hard,” Paul reflected on her qualifying race. “And I know this is her whole life. Her whole dream. And everything she’s worked so hard for. My heart is broken.”

Paul was visibly emotional during Leerdam’s triumphant performance at the Olympics, shedding tears as she secured gold in the women’s 1,000-meter speed skating event.

“Juttttttttttaaaaaaaa. I can’t stop crying,” he posted on X after her victory. “You did it my love. Olympic Gold. God is great and so are you.”

Leerdam completed the race in 1:12.31, setting an Olympic record and marking her first gold medal win. She previously earned a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2022 and has twice claimed victory in the 1,000-meter distance at the Speed Skating World Cup.

The couple's relationship began on Instagram in 2022, going public in April 2023. They announced their engagement in March 2025 through a joint post on social media.

“We’re engaged💍❤️‍🔥🥳we can’t wait to spend forever together💑,” he wrote alongside photos from their engagement moment.

Leerdam recounted how their connection started with Paul reaching out via Instagram to invite her onto his podcast.

“I never, ever expected to date him, like never,” she revealed in the documentary Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson. “Of course, I didn’t know a lot about him. I could only scroll on his Instagram and form an opinion like the whole world does. But he is the complete opposite.”
