King Charles Affirms Royal Family's Willingness to Assist Police Amid Andrew's Epstein Controversy

Feb 11 2026

On Monday, King Charles III made it clear that the royal family is prepared to assist law enforcement if inquiries arise concerning his brother, the former Prince Andrew, and his connections to Jeffrey Epstein.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace stated, "The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct. While the specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them as you would expect."

This announcement coincided with Thames Valley Police confirming they are evaluating information suggesting that Mountbatten-Windsor may have disclosed confidential government details to Epstein during his tenure as a British trade envoy.

The anti-monarchy group Republic reported this information to the police, referencing documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice related to Epstein, who was convicted of soliciting sex from minors and accused of child sex trafficking before his death in a New York jail.

Thames Valley Police stated they are assessing the report "in line with our established procedures," determining whether a formal investigation into Mountbatten-Windsor's actions is warranted.

Republic has leveled accusations against Mountbatten-Windsor for suspected misconduct in public office and violations of official secrets laws—charges that could lead to a life sentence in Britain.

Since the emergence of details regarding Mountbatten-Windsor's ties to Epstein last year, King Charles has taken significant steps to distance himself from his brother, including stripping him of royal titles and evicting him from his residence on the Windsor estate.

While previous allegations primarily focused on the former prince's interactions with young women linked to Epstein, Republic's claims center on his conduct as a British trade official.

Emails among the extensive documents released by the U.S. Justice Department on January 30 indicate that Mountbatten-Windsor forwarded confidential reports from his official visits as a trade envoy to Epstein shortly after receiving them. One email thread reveals that on November 30, 2010, he sent reports from his special adviser Amit Patel to Epstein without any accompanying message.

Another exchange appears to show him sharing a "confidential brief" regarding potential investment opportunities in southern Afghanistan, where British forces were stationed at the time. Mountbatten-Windsor claimed he sought Epstein's insights on how to attract interest in these opportunities.

These allegations resonate with recent disclosures from Epstein files suggesting that former British Ambassador Peter Mandelson also shared confidential information with Epstein. The London Metropolitan Police confirmed an investigation into Mandelson's actions earlier this month.

The appointment of Mandelson by Prime Minister Keir Starmer has intensified calls for his resignation, although following a cabinet meeting and the resignation of his chief of staff, Starmer seems poised to retain his position for now.

Despite extensive documentation regarding Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct with young women linked to Epstein, no criminal charges have been filed against him, and he has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Images of him with various women continue to surface from the released files, particularly following his 2022 settlement with Epstein survivor Virginia Giuffre, reportedly for millions. This settlement has kept scrutiny on the royal family alive. Giuffre tragically died by suicide last year.

In a statement released Monday, Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, expressed their "deep concern" over the ongoing revelations about Mountbatten-Windsor, emphasizing that their thoughts remain with the victims.

This marks the first public comment from the heir to the British throne regarding the scandal surrounding his uncle's actions.
