During a recent episode of her podcast, Megyn Kelly unleashed her frustrations regarding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show in a fiery exchange with Piers Morgan.
Kelly, known for her conservative views, reacted strongly to Morgan’s defense of the Puerto Rican artist’s Spanish-language performance, declaring, “This is why you lost your culture!”
Bad Bunny’s set, which aired on Sunday, conveyed themes of love and unity, widely interpreted as a critique of President Trump’s stringent immigration policies, which the artist has openly opposed.
Trump himself did not hold back his disapproval, labeling the performance “an affront to the Greatness of America.”
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense,” he posted on Truth Social shortly after the show concluded.
On his program, Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan expressed confusion over the backlash, stating he found nothing objectionable about Bad Bunny’s performance.
He highlighted the irony that while critics complained about the show being in Spanish, Trump frequently played Luciano Pavarotti’s “Nessun Dorma” – sung in Italian – at his rallies, including during the Republican National Conference in 2024 when he was named the party’s presidential candidate.
However, Kelly dismissed Morgan’s points, asserting that performing in Spanish was “a middle finger to the rest of America.”
“Who cares that we have 40 million Spanish speakers? We have 310 million who don’t speak a lick of Spanish! This is supposed to be a unifying event for the country. Not just for Latinos,” she exclaimed, adopting a mocking Hispanic accent.
“We don’t need a Spanish-speaking non-English-performing performer, and we don’t need an ICE or America hater featured as our halftime entertainment!”
When Morgan reminded her that the U.S. lacks an official language, Kelly’s anger intensified. She redirected her ire towards Britain, warning of cultural consequences.
“You ceded your culture to a bunch of radical Muslims who came in and took over, and now it’s gone,” she scolded Morgan, punctuating her remarks with MAGA rhetoric.
“We’re not allowing that here! Whether it’s Hispanic or Muslim — it’s not happening in the United States of America. That’s why President Trump was elected.”
Kelly criticized Bad Bunny for not speaking English during his performances and insisted that the Super Bowl should remain a “quintessential American event.”
“Football, that kind of football, is ours! They call it American football. And the halftime show and everything around it must stay quintessentially American. Not Spanish, not Muslim, not anything other than good old-fashioned American apple pie! There should be meatloaf, maybe some fried chicken, and an English-speaking performer. That’s what the Super Bowl should be!”
Ironically, all three dishes she mentioned have ties to other cultures.
The heated discussion did not seem to sour relations between Kelly and Morgan; she remained on the show for an additional 20 minutes and concluded by wishing him “lots of love” as the segment wrapped up.
