Megyn Kelly Critiques Meghan McCain's Endorsement of Bad Bunny's Halftime Show

Feb 09 2026

Megyn Kelly has made her stance clear regarding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, taking aim at fellow conservative Meghan McCain for her enthusiastic endorsement of the Puerto Rican artist's performance.

“As if we needed further assurance that the ‘taste levels’ of conservative America do not align with @MeghanMcCain’s,” Kelly expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter, on February 9.

McCain, who is 41, publicly supported Bad Bunny—born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—after his performance at Super Bowl LX held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.

“I’m sorry but I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show. And everything in life doesn’t have to be ruined with politics,” McCain stated, defending her position.

Kelly’s remarks sparked a variety of responses online. One user commented, “I didn’t like the song at all...not for any political reason...just couldn’t get into it...not my style of music,” while another urged, “Like she said everything doesn’t have to be political. Just give it a rest.”

“People are allowed to disagree with you,” a third user pointed out. “That doesn’t make them your enemy. You don’t have to constantly be on the attack. There’s so much joy in this life… dip your toe in the water,” while another chimed in, “She’s right! The halftime show was awesome! You are just trolling.”

“So much cattiness, it’s embarrassing,” remarked yet another user in response to Kelly’s critique.

Piers Morgan also weighed in on McCain’s post, simply stating, “Agreed 👌.”

Later, Morgan invited Kelly onto his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, to delve deeper into the discussion.

“What was the problem, Megyn?” Morgan asked. Kelly replied with a hint of sarcasm, “A certain male gesture is coming to mind but I’m not sure I can do it on this show,” seemingly referencing Bad Bunny’s signature hip thrust dance move from his Super Bowl performance.

She elaborated, “It wasn’t about what he was actually going to do during the middle of the Super Bowl performance. It’s about him. It’s about him being chosen as the Super Bowl performer. Somebody who’s been an outspoken critic, of course, of the Trump administration and of America.”

During his performance, Bad Bunny honored Puerto Rico by walking through a sugar cane field and celebrating local culture while performing exclusively in Spanish. His set highlighted Puerto Rican food vendors, reggaeton legends Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón, and included appearances by Latino celebrities such as Karol G and Ricky Martin.

Kelly contended, “We want something that we can all understand. I don’t think Bad Bunny used his appearance to bash America, but I can’t be sure because I didn’t see any subcaptions on his Spanish-language performance.”

She continued, “To get up there and perform the whole show in Spanish is a middle finger to the rest of America. Who gives a damn that we have 40 million Spanish speakers in the United States; we have 310 million who don’t speak a lick of Spanish.”

Prior to Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, the NFL faced backlash from conservative commentators and Republican politicians regarding his selection as the opening act. In response, Turning Point USA organized an alternative event dubbed the All-American Halftime Show featuring Kid Rock and others.

In a separate post on X, Kelly praised the Turning Point USA show, stating, “Congratulations @TPUSA, I am in tears at that BEAUTIFUL halftime show. Everyone did a spectacular job – it was perfect. THANK YOU!”
