Trump Distributes $145 Dress Shoes to Aides: ‘Everyone’s Wearing Them’

Mar 12 2026

Donald Trump has taken to distributing his preferred brand of dress shoes, Florsheim leather oxfords, to aides and officials, creating a peculiar fashion mandate within his circle. Reports indicate that many feel compelled to don these shoes whenever the former president is around.

The Wall Street Journal highlighted this unusual trend, noting that Trump has developed a fondness for the Wisconsin-based shoemaker, leading him to gift these shoes to various VIPs and staff members. The price tag of around $145 (£107), with clearance options dipping as low as $59.90 (£44.48), suggests they are far from high fashion.

“It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them,” an insider remarked, while another added, “All the boys have them.” This sentiment reflects a growing pressure among aides to conform to Trump’s footwear preferences.

During official meetings, Trump frequently shifts conversations to extol the virtues of these “incredible” shoes, often inquiring if aides have received their pairs. He has been known to guess shoe sizes in front of attendees, adding a personal touch to his shoe gifting.

Notable recipients of these shoes include Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, among others. Even South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and Fox News personalities like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity have reportedly joined the ranks of Florsheim wearers.

In a memorable Oval Office meeting last December, Trump pointedly told Vance and Rubio, “Marco, JD, you guys have s—y shoes.” Following this, he produced a Florsheim catalog and asked everyone for their sizes. When one attendee mentioned wearing size seven shoes, Trump leaned back and quipped, “You know, you can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size.”

Several accounts surfaced of cabinet members expressing dissatisfaction over having to wear Florsheim instead of their usual luxury brands like Louis Vuitton. This highlights the tension between personal style and the expectations set by Trump.

Thomas Florsheim Jr., CEO of the company’s parent organization, stated he was unaware of Trump’s shoe preferences and opted not to comment further on the matter. The White House has been approached for additional insights regarding this footwear phenomenon.
