Trump Gears Up for Potential Strikes if Iran Ignores Peace Talks
U.S. naval ships are being repositioned and stocked with advanced weaponry, as President Trump prepares for possible military action against Iran should peace talks falter.
In a recent conversation with a media outlet, Trump indicated that clarity on the situation would emerge within the next day. “We’re going to find out in about 24 hours. We’re going to know soon,” he stated, just ahead of scheduled negotiations in Islamabad.
Vice President JD Vance, alongside special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will engage in discussions with Iranian officials aimed at de-escalating tensions between the two nations.
Should these discussions fail, Trump appears ready to escalate military operations. “We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made — even better than what we did previously, and we blew them apart,” he remarked, emphasizing the seriousness of the preparations.
He further asserted that if an agreement is not reached, “we will be using [the weapons] very effectively.”

The U.S. delegation is set to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Pakistan’s capital. Araghchi has previously been a staunch advocate for Iran's uranium enrichment rights.
Trump expressed skepticism regarding the honesty of Iranian negotiators. “You’re dealing against people that we don’t know whether or not they tell the truth,” he commented, highlighting concerns over conflicting statements made by Iranian officials.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump was more direct, suggesting that Iran's survival hinges on their willingness to negotiate. “The Iranians don’t seem to realize they have no cards, other than a short-term extortion of the World by using International Waterways,” he stated.
In contrast, Vance maintained a more optimistic perspective on the negotiations, expressing eagerness for a positive outcome while cautioning against any attempts at manipulation from the Iranian side.
Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Iran continues its activities in the Strait of Hormuz, which Trump labeled as “dishonorable” given the current ceasefire context. He warned against any fees imposed on tankers traversing the strait.

“Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump remarked, urging immediate compliance with international norms.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reiterated Trump’s position, stating that the strait must remain open “immediately, without limitation.”
The White House has been approached for further comments regarding these developments.
