White House Suspends Security Alert Over Iran Threats to U.S.

Mar 08 2026

NEW YORK, March 7 - A federal security bulletin warning of increased threats to the U.S. stemming from the conflict in Iran has been suspended by the White House, according to a source familiar with the matter.

This bulletin, prepared by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the National Counterterrorism Center, was intended for state and local law enforcement agencies. An official from the Trump administration indicated that the release was delayed for further review to ensure its accuracy, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of internal discussions.

The draft, originating from DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis, reportedly lacked clarity and was poorly constructed, as noted by the official. Specifics regarding potential attacks by Iranian proxies within the U.S. were included in the bulletin, which was ultimately blocked from dissemination.

Requests for comments from the FBI and the National Counterterrorism Center went unanswered.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that it is standard practice for intelligence bulletins to undergo White House review prior to public release.

In a statement, the White House emphasized its commitment to coordinating with all government agencies to ensure that information shared is accurate and thoroughly vetted, even if this process requires additional time.

The military operation against Iran marks the largest U.S. engagement in the Middle East since the 2003 Iraq invasion. The State Department reported that over a dozen charter flights have been completed, successfully evacuating thousands of Americans from the region since last week.
