‘90s Heartthrob Rupert Everett, 67, Claims Pursuit of Perfect Body Left Him ‘Almost Crippled’
Rupert Everett, once a dazzling star of the '90s, now laments the physical price of his relentless pursuit for a perfect body. “I ruined myself,” he stated bluntly, revealing the harsh reality of his past choices.

The actor, 67, known for his role as Julia Roberts' gay best friend in a major 1997 film, admits that the buff physique he strived for has led to severe consequences. “Now I’m almost crippled as a result,” he confessed in a recent interview.

Everett’s journey to sculpted muscles came at a cost. He neglected essential practices like stretching while lifting weights, leading to tight tendons and inevitable musculoskeletal issues. “So boring. I didn’t do any of that,” he remarked, highlighting his disregard for proper fitness protocols.

Reflecting on his fleeting fame, he recalled, “I was wonderful-looking at one point. I had muscles. Everything.” However, he quickly added that this peak was short-lived, dubbing it his “Hollywood year.”

Despite his striking appearance during his heyday, insecurity plagued him. “Even work was about cruising, really. Trying to be attractive,” he admitted, revealing that his vanity stemmed from deep-seated feelings of inadequacy rather than self-admiration.

These days, Everett has abandoned the gym. His only exercise consists of walking his Labrador. He has distanced himself from the party scene and drug use that once defined him.

In 2024, he married Henrique, a Brazilian accountant, marking a new chapter in his life. “I always thought when I was still clubbing and hanging out that I’d be one of those 75-year-olds in a tie-dye T-shirt at raves,” he mused, but now finds no interest in such activities.

“Well, I’m hardly interested in anything anymore,” he added. “I’m interested in dust particles and things like that. I could quite happily sit just watching spring.”
