Biohacker Bryan Johnson's Body Cannibalizes Itself Amidst Battle with Incurable Disease

A millionaire biohacker's body is in a state of self-destruction, revealing a shocking battle with Autoimmune Gastritis (AIG), a condition that causes his stomach to literally eat itself.

Bryan Johnson, 48, disclosed his health crisis on social media, stating, “My stomach is eating itself.” AIG triggers the immune system to attack the stomach's acid-producing cells, leading to severe complications.

This autoimmune disorder can prevent the absorption of vital nutrients, resulting in Vitamin B12 deficiency, anemia, and an increased risk of stomach cancer.

Johnson shared on X that he spiraled into chronic depression over the years, during which his body began developing autoimmune issues affecting both his thyroid and stomach lining.

He only discovered he had AIG in May and remains uncertain about how long he has been battling this condition.

“I’m unsure how long I’ve had it. AIG causes irreversible damage: nutritional deficiency, anemia, and over a long horizon, elevated cancer risk,” he stated.

For 11 years, Johnson experienced low ferritin levels—a protein that stores iron—yet he did not have anemia. He attempted various methods to boost his iron levels, but nothing proved effective.

Now, he recognizes that his low iron was an early indicator of AIG, as “low ferritin was easy to dismiss by most standards of care.”

Symptoms of AIG include abdominal pain, iron deficiency, loss of appetite, nausea, and unexplained weight loss. However, these symptoms are not unique to the condition, making it difficult to diagnose.

Johnson candidly admitted to his followers that “there’s no approved cure for autoimmune gastritis today.” He plans to tackle the disease with his team.

“In the age of AI, multiomics, and custom-built DNA, proteins, and cells, no condition should be presumed incurable simply because no one has yet tried to cure it with today’s stack,” he asserted.
