Collin Gosselin Slams Kate Gosselin in Explosive Memoir Tease: ‘To My Real Mom’

Collin Gosselin just threw shade at his mother, Kate Gosselin, while announcing his explosive memoir, set to reveal alleged family misconduct. He made the announcement on social media, coinciding with Colleen Conrad's birthday, a woman he calls his "real mom."

“I didn’t plan this at all, but coincidentally on the day of the official announcement of my book, it is Colleen’s birthday,” Collin posted alongside a photo with Colleen Conrad, who was in a relationship with his father, Jon Gosselin, from 2014 to 2021.

Collin, 22, praised Colleen in his post, stating, “She is the strongest woman I know, who stepped in at the toughest part of my life and CHOSE to be a mother to me.”

He continued with a heartfelt birthday message: “Happy birthday to my wonderful, hardworking, passionate, and I could go on… to my real mom ❤️ I love you so much.”

In the comments, he elaborated on the bond he shares with Colleen: “The love you feel for a mom you were given is incredible. But the love you feel for a mom that CHOSE you is something so powerful. I am so fortunate ❤️ @colleen.conrad122 I love you so much 🫶🏼.”

Colleen responded affirmatively, saying, “I’ll always be here for you and you are my son. I love you!”

Meanwhile, a representative for Kate Gosselin, 51, did not respond to requests for comment. This social media post came just hours after Collin teased his memoir titled “In the Shadow of Eight,” which is scheduled for release in October.

Collin stated, “This is not a story for entertainment; it is a story to instill responsibility in everyone to advocate and speak up against abuse, injustice, and the exploitation of children,” alongside a montage of childhood photos.

He emphasized his commitment to those who have suffered similar experiences: “I not only poured my heart into this book for my younger self but for ALL who have faced unfair and outright heinous acts as children. I am your voice. I stand with you. CG.”

The publisher's synopsis promises a gripping narrative about how Collin escaped from darkness and found his way back. It describes the memoir as a “reckoning with the dark side of fame: the systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased.”

Kate and Jon Gosselin, 49, share 22-year-old sextuplets: Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, and twins Cara and Madelyn, 25. Their family gained notoriety through the TLC reality show that evolved into “Kate Plus 8” after their divorce in 2009.

Jon was awarded sole custody of Collin while Hannah later moved in with them. Over the years, Collin has accused Kate of “child abuse and child exploitation,” including claims of being zip-tied and locked in a basement before being institutionalized in 2016. Kate has consistently denied these allegations and defended her decision to place him in a behavioral health facility.

Madelyn has publicly supported their mother, accusing Collin of “physical violence,” which both Jon and Collin have denied.

In an August 2025 post, Collin suggested that Kate played a role in his estrangement from many siblings. Kate cryptically replied to the drama on social media: “he knows why…”

Amidst this family feud, reports surfaced in September that Kate is dating her former bodyguard Steve Neild and that they have wedding plans.

Kate previously denied any affair with Neild back in 2009 when media speculation arose. She stated at the time, “They’re going to keep going, and they’ll make up stuff to connect the dots.”

Following this revelation, Collin and Jon took to social media to criticize Kate. “Everyone says my dad and I are hung up on my mom. We are not,” Collin stated on Instagram.

He added, “We have suffered the damage of a narcissist and cried together.”

Collin told Us Weekly that his memoir reveals what truly happened behind the scenes and focuses on themes of truth, survival, resilience, and finding his voice after years of being silenced.
