Cornyn Launches Fierce Attack on Paxton in Senate Primary Ad: 'Adulterer and Fraud'

Feb 26 2026

In a bold move, Senator John Cornyn has unleashed a scathing advertisement aimed at his rival, Ken Paxton, as the Texas GOP primary for the U.S. Senate escalates.

The ad opens with a striking accusation: "Crooked Ken Paxton cheated on his wife. She is divorcing him on biblical grounds, so now Paxton is wrecking another home, sleeping around with a married woman, mother of seven." This direct attack sets the tone for a campaign that is becoming increasingly contentious.

Further claims in the advertisement allege that since taking office, Paxton has seen his net worth skyrocket by 7,000% and has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to left-leaning organizations, including the Montrose Center, which hosts drag queen shows and provides gender-affirming services to children as young as seven.

“Now think of the Paxton dirty deeds we don’t know about yet. The wife cheater and fraud or the Texas workhorse?” the ad provocatively asks, positioning the choice for voters as stark and clear.

Cornyn has not shied away from addressing Paxton's personal life in previous statements. In response to an attack from Paxton’s campaign earlier this month, Cornyn’s team retorted, “When this is over, you will have nothing. Which turns out to be the same thing you offered to give Angela in divorce proceedings.”

Angela Paxton filed for divorce last July after 38 years of marriage, citing "biblical grounds." She expressed her belief that marriage is a sacred covenant and stated, “I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.”

Recently, Cornyn warned that if Paxton secures the nomination, Republicans could face a "massacre" in the upcoming elections. “If Ken Paxton is the nominee, we could well experience a massacre and the first Democrat elected since 1994 in Texas,” he asserted. “People assume Texas is a red state, but nominating a flawed individual with political baggage like Paxton risks all that.”

In contrast, Paxton argues that he can galvanize voters who might otherwise stay home if President Trump is not on the ballot. “Ensuring that low-propensity America First voters are motivated to show up in November is critical to Republicans' success in 2026,” he stated. “John Cornyn is the single worst person in Texas to accomplish that.”

Current polling indicates that both candidates may struggle to secure enough votes to avoid a runoff in May.
