Crew Member Injured in On-Set Accident During How to Train Your Dragon 2 Production

A serious accident unfolded on the set of the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon 2 in the United Kingdom, leaving a crew member with significant injuries.

On April 21, reports surfaced detailing that a special effects technician suffered multiple finger severances due to a saw incident at Sky Studios Elstree, located in Borehamwood, just north of London.

Production for How to Train Your Dragon 2 commenced in February at Sky Studios Elstree, following the success of the first live-action film, which was shot in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The sequel aims to continue the story established in Universal's animated franchise.

Universal Pictures has opted not to comment on the incident, leaving many questions unanswered regarding safety protocols on set.

Mason Thames takes on the role of Hiccup, a young Viking navigating his relationship with dragons and his village. The cast also includes notable names such as Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Nick Frost, and Cate Blanchett, who reprises her role as Valka, Hiccup's mother, after voicing her character in the animated series.

Gerard Butler, who voiced Stoick, Hiccup's father, in the animated films, returns to lend his talents to the live-action version.
