Flavor Flav Transforms Trump’s Snub into a Weekend Extravaganza for Women’s Hockey Team
Flavor Flav is set to host a weekend celebration in July honoring the Olympic gold medal-winning U.S. women’s hockey team.
Initially, President Donald Trump invited the team to his State of the Union address to commemorate their victory. However, the invitation was declined after a controversial phone call with the men’s team, where Trump suggested that he would have to invite the women out of obligation.
In response, Flavor Flav took matters into his own hands, announcing a “She Got Game” weekend in Las Vegas dedicated to celebrating female athletes. His announcement came via a post on X, featuring a vibrant flyer showcasing the Team USA women’s hockey squad.
“SHE GOT GAME. July 16-19. Viva Las Vegas,” he wrote, emphasizing the festive spirit of the event.
This celebration is being organized in partnership with The Gist, a women-led sports brand, and MGM Resorts, aiming to create an empowering atmosphere for female athletes.
Earlier this week, Flav shared a formal email addressed to the women’s hockey team, expressing his excitement and congratulations. “I am reaching out on behalf of Flavor Flav. First, massive congratulations on the gold!!” the email stated.
It continued, “We saw the story about the men’s invite to the White House, and the not quite invite for the women’s team. Flav recently posted on social media an idea and invite for the women’s hockey team to Las Vegas for a real celebration. He always stands behind everything he says and does. If there is an interest for the team to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with Flav – we will figure it out on our end and make it a lovely experience.”

The phrase “not quite invite” refers to Trump’s comments during his call with the men’s team, where he remarked: “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that.”
Trump further added, “I do believe I would probably be impeached” if he didn’t extend an invitation to the women’s team, who had just triumphed over Canada.
Kash Patel, FBI Director, facilitated the call between Trump and the players and assured that they would be brought to D.C. at the president’s request.
In their statement regarding Trump’s invitation, USA Hockey expressed gratitude: “We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement.”
They added, “Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate. They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment.”
