Fox News Viewers Rip Donald Trump as a 'Total Laughingstock' Over Iran Deal

Fox News viewers unleashed a torrent of disdain for Donald Trump as a peace agreement with Iran edged closer to fruition.

Trump recently inked a 14-point memorandum of understanding. This deal includes lifting the American blockade on Iranian ports, allowing Iran and Oman to manage the Strait of Hormuz, and releasing billions in frozen Iranian assets.

In return, Iran committed to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. However, after Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, Iran shut it down, despite Israel's new ceasefire with Hezbollah.

The airstrike resulted in 47 fatalities and 97 injuries. Even before this incident, Trump faced intense backlash over the agreement, including criticism from within his own party.

Fox News interrupted programming for breaking news about Vice President JD Vance's comments made in Lucerne, Switzerland. The 41-year-old politician had just arrived to negotiate with Iranian officials regarding the delicate interim peace deal.

Vance claimed significant progress had been made by the U.S. negotiating team, stating, "Yesterday was a very, very good day. We made a lot of good progress. We did exactly what we wanted to do which is accomplish four things for the American people."

He outlined four critical points: establishing a mechanism for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, creating a deconfliction mechanism for the regional ceasefire, securing Iranian agreement to invite IAEA inspectors back into their country, and initiating technical negotiations that will follow.

Vance emphasized that Iran's agreement to allow IAEA inspectors back is "a major milestone for the American people," calling it "the first step in permanently denuclearizing—permanently ending a nuclear weapons program in Iran."

Viewers responding to the Fox News segment expressed strong disapproval of both Vance and Trump regarding this development and their overall strategy toward Iran.

One commenter on X stated, "What a complete joke on the world stage. I can’t wait for Rubio to be president. Trump is past his prime. JD is just a poster boy."

Another viewer remarked, "Trump talked all this talk about how previous presidents couldn’t negotiate. It’s pretty clear he’s not very good at this. This isn’t just two rich people devising plans to make themselves even richer. This is foreign policy and people’s lives are on the line. What a joke."

A different user added, "Again, just getting something we already had. They allowed inspectors until we bombed them last year. The Strait of Hormuz was open until we bombed them this year."

This user continued, "Maybe we should stop bombing them so we don’t have to make ‘deals’ that just get us back to where we were." The conflict with Iran escalated after U.S. and Israeli strikes against the country in late February.

As Vance prepared to leave Switzerland, he described the overall 36-hour negotiation period as "productive," highlighting key outcomes: maintaining an open Strait of Hormuz, a drop in oil prices following the release of 15 million barrels, Iran's agreement to permit nuclear inspectors into the country, and ongoing progress in technical negotiations.
