Greene Shifts Allegiance, Backs Carlson for 2028 — Trump Likely to Fume

Mar 07 2026

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former Congresswoman, has thrown her support behind Tucker Carlson for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, a move that is expected to ruffle feathers in Trump's camp.

On Friday, Greene expressed her admiration for Carlson, a former Fox News host who has openly criticized Trump's approach to the conflict in Iran. "I SUPPORT TUCKER," she declared on social media, asserting that Trump has strayed from the core principles of MAGA. "Trump doesn't even know what MAGA is anymore and turned it into MIGA [Make Iran Great Again]. Trump is not America First, he's donor first," she added.

Greene's endorsement comes with a bold prediction: she believes Carlson would defeat Trump if he decided to run. "Tucker would beat Trump if he ran for President and Trump tried to violate the constitution and tried to run again for a third term," she stated emphatically.

This endorsement follows Trump's recent remarks about Carlson, where he claimed that the podcaster had "lost his way" after Carlson labeled the war in Iran as "absolutely disgusting and evil." In an interview with a prominent news correspondent, Trump remarked, "I knew that a long time ago, and he's not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that."

In response to Trump's comments, Carlson opted for a more diplomatic approach. "There are times I get annoyed with Trump, right now definitely included," he acknowledged. "But I’ll always love him no matter what he says about me."

While Carlson has hinted at a potential presidential run, he has downplayed the seriousness of such aspirations. During a podcast episode in 2024, he mentioned considering a candidacy in 2028 but expressed doubts about his capabilities in that role.

Greene, who resigned from her Congressional position following a public fallout with Trump, has emerged as a vocal critic of U.S. military involvement in Iran. She has also opposed continued American support for Ukraine against Russia and has called for cuts to military aid for Israel.

Trump has not held back in his criticism of Greene, labeling her a “traitor” and a “ranting lunatic.”

On Wednesday, Greene voiced her concerns about the financial burden of the war in Iran on American taxpayers. "War with Iran is costing American taxpayers $1 billion dollars a day. Most American taxpayers will never receive a Social Security check because it will be bankrupt by 2033," she wrote online. "Most Americans can’t afford health insurance policies because they are so expensive."

She continued her argument against U.S. military spending while many families struggle financially. "Most American families cannot financially survive on a single income, and both parents have to work like slaves in order to feed their children and keep a roof over their heads," Greene stated.

"But the Trump administration has decided that these American taxpayers have to spend $1 billion a day to murder people and their children in a foreign country that none of us have ever met and know nothing about," she concluded with sharp criticism of what she termed "Incredible MAGA priorities."
