Today, Hillary Clinton will appear before the House Oversight Committee to discuss her ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. This comes just a day before her husband, former President Bill Clinton, is slated for his own questioning.
The committee, led by Republicans, is making its way to Chappaqua, New York, the Clintons' hometown, for these closed-door sessions. This follows the release of documents by the Justice Department under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which included images of Bill Clinton.
While neither Clinton has been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein, they have engaged in a prolonged dispute with the committee. Their previous attempts to resist subpoenas were met with a sharp rebuke, labeling the committee's actions as “invalid and legally unenforceable.” This letter also criticized the Trump administration and Congress for their inaction.
Faced with the possibility of contempt charges, the couple agreed to testify. Reports indicate they are preparing for intense questioning.

James Comer, chair of the committee, emphasized the importance of these depositions. “Bill and Hillary Clinton have never answered a single question about their well-documented ties to Jeffrey Epstein & Ghislaine Maxwell,” he stated on social media. “That ends today. The House Oversight Committee will press for the answers survivors and the American people deserve.”
Hillary Clinton has maintained that she never met Epstein but acknowledged encountering Maxwell on a few occasions. In a recent BBC interview, she suggested that the depositions serve as a distraction from Trump’s issues. “Other witnesses were asked to testify,” she noted. “They gave written statements under oath. We offered that. Why do they want to pull us into this? To divert attention from President Trump. This is not complicated.”
“We have nothing to hide,” she asserted, advocating for transparency regarding the Epstein files. “We think sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
The depositions will be recorded, with Republicans planning to release footage shortly thereafter. Following each session, committee members intend to address reporters.

Rep. Robert Garcia, the leading Democrat on the committee, expressed that both sides are pleased with the deposition's occurrence.
Agreed talking points for the depositions will cover various topics, including alleged mismanagement of federal investigations into Epstein and Maxwell, Epstein's 2019 death by suicide, and their attempts to gain favor for self-protection.
In December 2025, images of Bill Clinton with Epstein surfaced in an initial document release by the Justice Department, which was quickly seized upon by Trump’s allies.
Following this release, the Clintons issued a strong eight-page letter to the committee, anticipating continued efforts from House Republicans to embarrass them with outdated photographs.

After Epstein's arrest in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, Bill Clinton’s spokesperson confirmed that he had flown on Epstein’s private plane but insisted he was unaware of any criminal activities associated with Epstein. The trips in 2002 and 2003 were linked to his work with the Clinton Foundation, according to Ureña.
