Dallas Couple, 92 and 82, Rediscover Love in Their Golden Years

Jane Vandecar and Paul Radman's love story is like something out of a movie. They first crossed paths by chance 15 years ago, but life led them in different directions. However, destiny intervened eight years later, offering them a second shot at love. Now, in their 80s and 90s, they are showcasing that love transcends age barriers and always finds a way.

Vandecar vividly recalls the moment she first encountered Radman. "I asked, 'Is anyone sitting here?' and he replied, 'You are!' I thought, now that's a good answer," she reminisced. Their serendipitous meeting took place at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas during an event, where they found themselves walking back to their cars together.

Despite the initial spark, Radman seemed oblivious to the signs of love in the air. Although he took Vandecar's number, he never made the call. Over the following eight years, their paths crossed multiple times, from symphony concerts to art galleries, and even a chance encounter at the liquor store. Vandecar humorously mentioned, "I even dated his roommate at one point!"

After several years of these coincidental meetings, Radman had an epiphany. "Maybe I missed something," he reflected. "We should explore this further." Finally, eight years ago, he mustered the courage to call Vandecar at work and invite her to dinner.

The following day, Radman visited Edgemere Senior Living in Dallas, only to be surprised by the staff who mentioned meeting a potential resident they believed would be his ideal match. To his amazement, that resident turned out to be Vandecar. "That's intriguing," Radman remarked. "Because I went out with her last night for the first time in many years!"

After years of chance encounters, the couple's paths aligned, and they embarked on a shared journey. Today, at 92 and 82, Radman and Vandecar reside together at Edgemere. Rather than lamenting lost time, they view their union as a testament to the power of love.
