Selena Gomez and her fiancé, record producer Benny Blanco, recently opened up about the evolution of her engagement ring design. In a joint interview with Interview Magazine, the couple reminisced about the process of selecting the perfect sparkler.

Gomez, known for her role in "Only Murders in the Building," revealed that she had always envisioned a marquise-style diamond ring, inspired by her 2015 song "Good For You." However, despite her initial dream, she encountered some uncertainties about the ring's design along the way.

During the interview, Blanco candidly shared, "I just tried not to mess up," emphasizing the pressure he felt to get the ring right after Gomez expressed that the marquise diamond was her long-desired choice.

Blanco elaborated on the process, mentioning how Gomez showed him various designs, and he subtly probed her preferences. He recalled, "She showed me designs and I would always throw little hints. I’d be like, 'Yeah, but if I ever made one, would you want it like this?'"

However, Blanco revealed a twist in the tale when Gomez altered her preferences midway through the design phase. He shared, "It used to have huge baguettes on the side and then she was like, 'I don’t want something that big.'" Gomez chimed in, expressing her concern, "I just think it’s too much."

Despite the changes, Blanco reassured Gomez that the final result would be perfect. He humorously mentioned the outcome of the alteration, stating, "Yeah, so now I have extra baguettes and we’re going to make earrings for her. She basically has three wedding rings."

After a year of dating, Blanco proposed to Gomez on a set designed to resemble a Central Park picnic, complete with Taco Bell. Gomez later shared the exciting news on Instagram, captioning a photo of her ring with, "forever begins now."

Blanco collaborated with jewelry designers Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos from Abril Barret to bring Gomez's dream ring to life. Together, they crafted a marquise-shaped diamond ring with a cathedral setting and a brilliant-cut eternity band.

Claster shared insights into the design process, stating, "We started the project earlier this year. Benny, a wonderful creative himself, had specific inspiration, including the center cut, the marquise." She further added, "We worked closely with multiple approaches before our final ring."

Reflecting on Blanco's vision, Claster mentioned, "Benny had a very sharp idea of what he ultimately envisioned. We combined it with our Abril Barret sentiment to capture the essence of an heirloom piece with a modern hand."

Aside from the engagement ring journey, the couple surprised fans with a joint album titled "I Said I Love You First." They re
