Kai Trump Claims 'Politics Isn't for Me' on Red Carpet, But Hypocrisy Abounds
Kai Trump, at the 2026 ESPYS, boldly declared, "politics isn't for me," while strutting down the red carpet at New York City's David H. Koch Theater. The 19-year-old made headlines as she distanced herself from her grandfather, Donald Trump, stating, "everything is possible" in life.
In an interview with Sportico, she claimed, "I kind of stay out of politics completely." This statement drew immediate scrutiny from viewers who highlighted the glaring contradiction in her position.
"It's just not my thing," she continued. "I just like showing my life and showing how you can still be an athlete and you can still do a ton of other things... I just kind of like showing people that everything is possible... and I love showing the new generation my progress through college and how I got to where I am today."
However, many users on X were quick to point out the privilege that underpins her success. One user fired back, "Politics is the reason why she’s in the position she’s in."
Another chimed in, "Everything is possible... sure if your dad’s a millionaire and your grandpa is a billionaire and at 18 you’re worth millions already."

A third user remarked, "She likes showing 'How I got to where I am today.' Think we got that figured out all by ourselves."
Criticism escalated with another user stating, "She should shut up. She wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for her last name."
One more user added, "She thinks she’s an athlete because her grandpa bought her a golf career? What a weird nepo baby."
Amidst the backlash regarding her political stance, Kai also provided an update on her mother, Vanessa Trump, who recently underwent surgery while battling breast cancer.
Speaking to Page Six, Kai stated, "My mom’s doing good." She reassured everyone that "she’s doing better."
Vanessa announced her cancer diagnosis in May via Instagram. She expressed, "While this isn’t the news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me."
