Karol G Poses for Playboy, Revealing How Sofía Vergara Persuaded Her to Do the Sultry Cover Shoot

Karol G is making headlines as the latest cover star of Playboy magazine!

The Colombian sensation is set to appear on the spring issue's cover, coinciding with her highly anticipated performance at Coachella.

In a candid interview, the 35-year-old "Bichota" artist discussed how Sofía Vergara, another prominent Colombian figure, played a pivotal role in her decision to embrace this daring opportunity.

“The only person I consulted was Sofía Vergara,” Karol revealed. “I called her and said, ‘If you tell me not to do it, I won’t.’”

Vergara's response was both encouraging and humorous: “‘Mijita, with that body? When you reach this age, you think, ‘Why didn’t I pose more? I should have worn a thong!’”

Karol and Vergara previously collaborated on the Netflix series Griselda, which tells the story of notorious Colombian figure Griselda Blanco.

In addition to discussing her Playboy shoot, Karol expressed excitement about her upcoming Coachella performance, marking a significant milestone as the first Latina to headline the festival.

“When I got the call, it felt like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. They told me in Spanish that I would be the first Latina to close the festival,” she shared. “This show is for my community and for the world, but it’s also deeply personal for me.”

Although this will be her first time headlining Coachella, Karol made her festival debut in 2022, where she honored her Colombian heritage with a special medley and invited her friend J Balvin to perform his hit "Mi Gente."

Her Coachella appearance will follow the release of her fifth studio album, Tropicoqueta, which debuted in June 2025 and represents a significant personal reclamation.

Reflecting on her journey, Karol previously shared with media outlets about closing the chapter on her Mañana Será Bonito era, which earned her a Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album. “I’m overwhelmed with emotions. It’s hard to believe something so monumental emerged from one of the toughest times in my life,” she stated. “I was just creating music to heal my heart.”
