Kay Adams Draws Parallels Between Drake Maye and Tom Brady, Hails His 'Enduring Potential'

Feb 06 2026

At just 23, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is on the brink of his first Super Bowl appearance, prompting comparisons to Tom Brady, a name synonymous with football greatness.

“What [Maye] has accomplished during this postseason echoes the early days of Tom Brady,” veteran NFL analyst Kay Adams remarked in an exclusive interview. “Despite the criticism regarding his passing stats, he’s off to a remarkable start in a season where expectations were low.”

Brady’s own journey began under similar circumstances. In 2001, the Patriots were the underdogs, with a young quarterback stepping in after Drew Bledsoe’s injury. They stumbled initially, losing three of their first four games before Brady took the reins.

That season culminated in a stunning Super Bowl victory against the heavily favored St. Louis Rams, thanks to Adam Vinatieri’s last-second field goal. This year, the Seattle Seahawks enter the game as 4.5-point favorites, but Adams believes Maye and his team will rise to the occasion.

“Don’t underestimate their ability to challenge the Seahawks,” she warned.

Regardless of the outcome, Adams sees Maye as a future star in the NFL. “He undoubtedly has staying power,” she asserted. “He’s one of the young faces of our league as we look toward 2026, irrespective of what happens on Sunday.”

Adams also shared her personal impressions of Maye. “He’s a compelling story this year. I’ve met him several times; he’s focused yet has a great sense of humor. He’s generous with his time and allows his wife to shine in the spotlight—who wouldn’t appreciate that?”

As excitement builds for the Super Bowl, some fans express concern over Maye’s shoulder injury. However, he reassured supporters during a press conference on February 3, stating he feels “good.”

“We’re going to get some extra rest. The only issue is the cumulative effect of throwing for nearly 30 weeks straight,” he explained. “But I’ve had some extra rest and I’m ready for the Super Bowl.”

Adams anticipates a tightly contested game but refrained from predicting a winner. She did expect a touchdown from Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Regardless of the outcome, she plans to enjoy the game from FanDuel’s stadium suite and is eager to sample the diverse menu offered by Levy Restaurants at Levi’s Stadium.

“I’m fortunate to preview the Super Bowl dinner with Levy, and I’m thrilled about their offerings,” she said, specifically mentioning the gilroy garlic steak frites.

“Their au jus was incredible,” she added. “For food enthusiasts or anyone just wanting a delicious bite on this grand stage—Levy has it all covered.”
