Lara Trump Enters the Fray as Eric Trump Clashes with MS NOW Over China Controversy

May 17 2026

Eric Trump unleashed a social media storm after MS NOW anchor Jen Psaki took aim at him during a live broadcast. The 42-year-old son of Donald Trump is now threatening to sue Psaki and her network over her on-air comments, dragging his wife Lara into the fray as they return from a controversial trip to China.

The couple, who just wrapped up a two-day state visit in Beijing with the president, faced intense backlash for their presence. Critics were quick to question their involvement, asking, "What are you even doing there?"

While Eric was in China on May 13, Psaki referenced a report from The New York Times about a potential settlement in the president's $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS. The catch? The IRS would need to drop any audits of Trump and his family.

Donald Trump, along with his sons Eric and Donald Jr., filed suit against the IRS in January over leaked tax returns. Psaki didn’t hold back, stating on MS NOW, "That unprecedented protection from financial scrutiny wouldn’t just extend to Trump but also to his two adult sons and the Trump family businesses, who have all been profiting off his presidency."

"And guess where Eric is right now? With his father in China," Psaki added, throwing shade at Eric's supposed detachment from government affairs.

Psaki continued her tirade, pointing out that Eric has no official role in the U.S. government and should be "firewalled off" from any activities due to his management of the family businesses. Yet there he was, front and center in Beijing.

Despite claims that he joined the trip in a personal capacity and had no business dealings in China, the White House insisted there were no conflicts of interest. They maintained that Eric was simply there to support his father.

However, Psaki wasn’t done. She called the White House's denial "quite an interesting take," especially after a Financial Times article surfaced on May 13, revealing that Eric Trump and his family-linked group were pursuing a deal with a Chinese chipmaker.

"Eric is on the board of a company called ALT5 Sigma," Psaki stated. "While he’s in China with his dad, this company reportedly has a memorandum of understanding to explore a deal with a Chinese computer chip manufacturer for AI data centers and other tech-related ventures."

Eric fired back at Psaki’s claims, asserting they were false. He took to X, declaring, "I intend to sue @jrpsaki and @MSNOWNews," and vehemently denied any connection to ALT5. "I have NEVER been on the board of ALT5—not now, not ever," he insisted. "Anyone with basic access to Google would know this."

He further emphasized, "I have zero involvement in any merger discussions involving any public entity I do not run or control. I have zero business interests in China. No properties, no investments, nothing!" He concluded with a heartfelt note: "I joined this trip for one reason: as a loving son who adores my father and wouldn’t miss being by his side for this incredible moment. During the bilateral talks, @LaraLeaTrump and I went to the Great Wall of China."

As the drama unfolds, Irish Star has reached out to MS NOW and Jen Psaki for their take on this escalating feud.
