Lauren Boebert Faces Harsh Reality Check After Misguided Praise for Trump

Mar 24 2026

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) attempted to endorse President Donald Trump’s controversial decision to deploy ICE agents at airports, aiming to highlight reduced TSA wait times, but her claims quickly unraveled.

Despite previous disagreements with Trump regarding the Epstein files and a proposed $200 billion budget increase for military actions in Iran, Boebert seemed eager to align herself with the former president.

In a video posted on X Monday, she touted what she believed was a success story from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

“So President Trump sends ICE agents to the airports across the country and while the rest of our country has 3-plus hour waits ― thanks, Democrats ― Minneapolis airport TSA wait time right now is less than 5 minutes,” she exclaimed, laughing. “Called it!”

However, her assertion quickly fell apart as she added, “You can’t make this stuff up,” only to find that she had indeed fabricated the narrative.

Local news reports indicated that ICE had not been deployed at MSP Airport, contradicting her claims.

An airport spokesperson clarified to the Daily Beast that there were “no planned changes for security checkpoint staffing at MSP at this time,” attributing the short wait times to “the commitment of the local TSA team.”

Boebert’s office has been contacted for further comment regarding her misleading statements.

Amid ongoing funding disputes over Homeland Security, TSA workers have faced temporary unpaid statuses, leading to increased sick calls and longer wait times at various airports. While Trump has dispatched ICE agents to over a dozen airports, their effectiveness in this role remains highly debated.
