‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Star Dons Iconic Pink Look, Channeling Elle Woods’ Fashion Legacy

Jun 23 2026

Lexi Minetree embodies Elle Woods with fierce precision.

During the promotion of the “Legally Blonde” prequel, she rocked a hot pink sequined dress, a modern twist on one of the character's most memorable outfits from the 2001 film.

At Prime Video’s “Elle World” event in New York City, Minetree showcased her version of the iconic look, paying homage to the character she portrays as a high school-aged Woods.

The choice of vibrant pink is no accident; it’s a nod to the character’s signature style and the film’s legacy. The vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress she wore is pulled from the brand's fall 2000 collection, echoing the original blue version worn by Reese Witherspoon during a pivotal shopping scene.

In that scene, Woods confronts a sales associate trying to sell her an outdated dress at full price. “Is this low-viscosity Rayon?” she challenges, showcasing her fashion knowledge and wit.

Minetree amplified this reference with a crystal-studded belt cinched at her waist and a Tiffany & Co. sterling silver dog tag necklace valued at $1,650, mirroring the accessories worn by Woods in that same iconic moment.

The pink sequins also evoke memories of the bikini Woods donned in her Harvard Law School admissions video, further cementing the connection to the character’s bold fashion statements.

Reese Witherspoon joined the celebration, donning a pink Prada dress paired with silver heels. The event marked a reunion of the entire cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, and Ali Larter, celebrating 25 years since the film's release.

Later that day, Minetree switched into another dazzling outfit, this time a crystal-studded minidress in a pale blue hue reminiscent of the original Elle Woods look but with a different silhouette. This piece was also sourced from Dolce & Gabbana’s archives, specifically the spring 1995 collection.

In a previous appearance on a talk show, Minetree honored Witherspoon by wearing the same pink Marc Jacobs tulle dress that the actress sported at the film's premiere in 2001.

In February, Witherspoon delivered the news to Minetree via TikTok that she had secured the role. Witherspoon not only originated the character but also serves as an executive producer for the series.

“Elle” will be available to stream on Prime July 1.
