Lindsey Vonn Displays Bandaged Leg During Intense Rehab Session
Lindsey Vonn, the celebrated Olympic skier, continues to navigate the challenging path of recovery from a severe leg injury that nearly resulted in the loss of her left leg. Despite the hurdles, she remains committed to her rehabilitation, showcasing her determination in the gym.
On March 9, Vonn shared a video on her Instagram Story, where she can be seen seated and pulling a rope on a gym machine, her injured leg elevated and still encased in a cast. “Finding ways to work,” she captioned the video, reflecting her resilient spirit.
The 41-year-old athlete underwent multiple surgeries following a harrowing crash during her run at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy on February 8. Compounding her injuries was a torn ACL, which she had been skiing on prior to the accident. After the incident, Vonn was airlifted from the course and did not return home until March 1.

In a candid update shared with her followers on February 23, Vonn revealed the extent of her injuries, stating, “Dr. Tom Hackett saved my leg. He saved my leg from being amputated. He performed a fasciotomy, cutting open both sides of my leg to relieve pressure and ultimately saved me.”
She expressed gratitude for Dr. Hackett’s expertise, noting, “If I hadn’t torn my ACL, which I would have torn anyway with this crash, he wouldn’t have been there to save my leg. I feel very lucky and grateful for him and for the six-hour surgery he performed on Wednesday, which went amazingly well.”
Vonn has kept her audience informed about her recovery journey, posting another workout video on March 6 that highlighted the challenges she faces. In this clip, she attempted to stand independently but visibly struggled with pain.
“Definitely some hard times but still thankful… still working hard,” she wrote in the post. “The only goal is to get healthy. One day at a time. #icandothis.”
On the same day, she reflected on her recent loss of the No. 1 ranking in the world due to her injury. “Well… I’ve had the red leader bib from the first race of the season until now, but in all likelihood tomorrow will be my last day as #1,” she shared on Instagram. “At the beginning of the season, no one would have ever believed I would be even close to this position. And I bet people would have laughed if it was even suggested. But winning the title was my goal… and I came painfully close to achieving it.”
