Newsom Claps Back at White House’s ‘Two Kings’ Post Featuring Trump and Charles
California Governor Gavin Newsom wasted no time in responding to a recent social media post from the White House that showcased President Donald Trump alongside King Charles III, captioned “TWO KINGS.”
The official White House account on X shared a lighthearted image of the two leaders sharing a laugh on the South Lawn during the second day of the royal visit, which included Queen Camilla.
However, Newsom’s Press Office Account quickly countered with a more pointed take, suggesting an alternative caption: “One is the King of the U.K. and the other is the King of Bulls***.”

This exchange comes amid widespread “No Kings” protests against Trump, with large crowds gathering nationwide to voice their concerns over what they perceive as authoritarian tendencies from the former president.
The photo was shared while King Charles delivered a significant address to Congress, where he received applause and a standing ovation. He highlighted the historical connection between the U.K.’s Declaration of Rights of 1689 and the American Bill of Rights, emphasizing the necessity of checks and balances on leadership.
“Our Declaration of Rights of 1689 was not only the foundation of our constitutional Monarchy, but also provided the source of so many principles reiterated — often verbatim — in the American Bill of Rights of 1791,” he stated.

He further noted that the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society has identified that Magna Carta has been cited in at least 160 Supreme Court cases since 1789, underscoring its role in establishing that even Kings are subject to law.
Despite Trump’s past self-identification as a King, particularly after his decision to eliminate congestion pricing in New York last year, he distanced himself from the title during a recent interview with 60 Minutes. “I’m not a King; if I was a King, I wouldn’t be dealing with you,” he told reporter Norah O'Donnell.
