Newsom Identifies the Real 'Dark Heart of This Administration,' Dismissing Kristi Noem as a 'Scapegoat'

During a recent event in New Hampshire, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) presented a provocative perspective on the dismissal of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, suggesting that President Donald Trump’s decision was a strategic move to protect a more influential figure within his administration.

While promoting his memoir, “Young Man in a Hurry,” Newsom engaged with progressive influencer Jack Cocchiarella, where the conversation shifted to Noem’s abrupt exit from her position. The audience responded enthusiastically as Newsom articulated his views.

“Let’s be clear,” Newsom stated emphatically. “The real core issue of this administration isn’t Noem; it’s Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff. He’s the one who should be held accountable. In many respects, she’s merely a scapegoat in this entire situation.”

He further asserted, “All of her actions were orchestrated by Miller. I don’t just think it; I know it.”

On the same day, Trump announced that Noem would transition to a newly created role as “special envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” while nominating Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) to take her place.

Noem’s termination followed a contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing where she failed to retract inflammatory statements regarding Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed by federal immigration agents in Minnesota earlier this year.

In her remarks, Noem unfoundedly labeled the two individuals as “domestic terrorists,” alleging that Pretti had attempted to “kill law enforcement” before being disarmed and shot.

Reports indicate that Noem privately acknowledged that her rhetoric was influenced by Miller and Trump, only to find herself abandoned when the fallout occurred.

Miller has been a key architect of Trump’s stringent immigration policies and aggressive foreign strategies, advocating for a “might makes right” doctrine regarding Venezuela’s oil and even suggesting military action to annex Greenland. He was also instrumental in implementing the travel ban targeting Muslim-majority nations during Trump’s initial term.

As for Newsom, speculation about a potential presidential bid in 2028 continues to grow as he critiques Trump throughout his book tour. “Donald Trump is retreating,” he remarked. “Today exemplifies that with the first high-profile Cabinet member being fired. He’s losing ground in places like Minnesota because of the courageous citizens who have stood up against his agenda.”
