Noem Dismisses Affair Allegations as 'Tabloid Nonsense' Amid Intense Questioning

“Have you ever had sexual relations with Corey Lewandowski?” The question hung in the air, stark and unyielding, as Kristi Noem faced California Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove just moments after her husband exited the room.

“Mr. Chairman, I am shocked we are peddling tabloid nonsense today at this committee,” Noem responded, her voice steady despite the tension. Her husband, Bryon Noem, had been seated behind her but left before the inquiry was posed.

This exchange unfolded during a House Judiciary Committee hearing where Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, was also scrutinized regarding the aggressive actions of immigration enforcement in Minneapolis that resulted in two fatalities.

Rumors of an affair between Noem and Lewandowski, both married individuals, have circulated for some time. They have consistently denied these allegations, with Noem labeling them a “disgusting lie.” Yet, her indirect response to Kamlager-Dove’s question prompted further inquiry.

“It’s understandable to be offended by the question,” Kamlager-Dove continued, “but it’s a legitimate inquiry. You should be able to respond clearly without hesitation when asked if any federal official is involved with a subordinate.”

She emphasized that the matter transcends personal life, stating, “It’s about your judgment.” Kamlager-Dove highlighted Lewandowski’s controversial history, mentioning allegations of physical battery and illegal lobbying activities.

“Trump knows this guy is shady,” she asserted, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

Last month, a revealing report from a major publication detailed the alleged turmoil within DHS under Noem and Lewandowski’s guidance, reigniting speculation about their relationship. The report indicated that their close association had raised concerns among Trump and his advisors, leading to the president’s rejection of Lewandowski as Noem’s chief of staff due to ongoing rumors of a romantic link.

Additionally, it was reported that Noem had relocated to a government-owned residence on a military base in Washington, D.C., typically assigned to the head of the Coast Guard. This move followed tabloid images showing Lewandowski frequently visiting her apartment across the street.

A spokesperson for DHS clarified that Noem’s relocation was for security purposes and confirmed that she pays rent for the property.

The agency has been approached for comments regarding Noem’s responses during the committee hearing.
