Pope Leo's MAGA Bro Claims No Bad Blood with Trump Amid Tensions

Pope Leo XIV's brother, Louis Prevost, 75, is making waves with his bold claim: "I don't think there's any real animosity between President Trump and the Pope." This statement comes as the two figures navigate a stormy sea of public disagreements.

Known as the Pope's "MAGA" brother, Prevost has forged a friendship with Trump since his sibling, Robert "Rob" Francis Prevost, ascended to the papacy as the first American pontiff. Living in sunny Florida with his wife, Deborah, Prevost is no stranger to the political spotlight.

The ongoing spat between the pontiff and the president has been fueled by clashes over domestic and foreign policies, particularly regarding the Iran conflict. Yet, Pope Leo has been quick to dismiss any notion of a feud. After delivering a fiery address condemning "tyrants" who squander billions on warfare, he clarified that his remarks were not aimed at Trump, stating, "It is not in my interest at all to debate the president."

In a recent exchange, Pope Leo shot down Trump's claims that he was "endangering Catholics" by allegedly supporting Iran's nuclear ambitions. "The mission of the Church is to proclaim the Gospel, to preach peace," he retorted. "If someone wants to criticize me for proclaiming the Gospel, let them do so truthfully." The pontiff emphasized that the Church has long opposed nuclear weapons, leaving no room for doubt.

Despite the tension, Louis Prevost remains a staunch supporter of Trump. In an interview with ABC, he described the president as a "friend" and recounted how Trump has welcomed him to both the White House and Mar-a-Lago. When asked about Trump's sharp critiques of his brother, Prevost defended the president's candidness: "He always expresses himself frankly and directly. That’s just who he is."

Prevost's loyalty to his brother shines through as he downplays the supposed feud. "I hope that one day soon, the two of them can sit down together, talk, and get to know each other better," he said. He even suggested that they might share more common ground than most realize.

Despite their political differences, Prevost maintains a close relationship with Pope Leo. "Nothing's changed; he's still my little brother," he shared. They chat weekly about everything from current events to personal plans, even exchanging jokes. "I understand my brother's point of view," he added. "We do occasionally disagree about politics or government policies, but never to the point of getting angry with each other. We accept that we disagree and continue laughing and enjoying life."
