Riley Keough Pushes Cannes Dress Code Boundaries in Jaw-Dropping Sheer Chanel
Sheer audacity is the name of the game.

Riley Keough turned heads at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday night, strutting her stuff at the “Histoires Parallèles (Parallel Tales)” premiere in a jaw-dropping sheer Chanel Haute Couture outfit.
This daring ensemble featured a collarless jacket, a midi skirt, and a top—all crafted from nude-hued organza adorned with beads and pearls—allowing her pale blue lingerie to tantalizingly peek through.

While the silhouette might have seemed conservative at first glance, the festival has a notorious reputation for banning body-baring styles since 2025.

“Nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,” the updated Cannes rules state, leaving little room for interpretation.
And it doesn’t stop there. Gowns that sweep the full length of the step-and-repeat are also off-limits, a significant shift from past years.

“Voluminous outfits, particularly those with a large train that hinder the proper flow of traffic and complicate seating in the theater, are not permitted,” the charter explicitly warns.

But Keough, 36, isn’t alone in her fashion rebellion. Last year, fellow Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart made waves with a pink tweed short suit paired with a sheer skirt, while Heidi Klum wowed in a floral Elie Saab gown featuring an eye-catching dramatic train at the opening ceremony.
Even jury member Halle Berry had to “pivot” from a voluminous Gaurav Gupta dress to a sleeker striped Jacquemus creation for her red carpet appearance, proving that the stakes are high when it comes to Cannes fashion.
