Rock Stars Embrace Adult Content Hustle as Frontman Strips Down to New Low

Jun 01 2026

The All-American Rejects guitarist Nick Wheeler threw his support behind bandmate Tyson Ritter's new adult content venture, quipping it was "for the best" that he was deemed too unappealing for the gig.

Tyson Ritter, at 42, shocked fans by launching an adult content page as part of the band's music comeback strategy. Nick acknowledged that Tyson was the right choice for the provocative photos, stating, "I thought it was great, it was fun!"

Nick recounted a moment when their touring photographer gathered the band for seductive poses, only for it to end up being just Tyson. He remarked, "I was like, ‘yeah, that’s probably right, yeah okay’. That was for the best!"

Nick expressed relief at not having to bare it all himself. He emphasized that musicians must innovate in promoting their music today, likening modern self-promotion to Hollywood stars endorsing products.

He elaborated, "I think these days whatever creative ways you can come up with to get your message out there, get your music out there, you should." He noted the stark contrast between past and present, saying actors once avoided commercials but now embrace them, citing Ryan Reynolds selling cell phones and snacks.

Nick clarified he wasn't directly comparing their situation to that of actors but underscored the importance of utilizing various platforms for promotion.

The All-American Rejects thrive in this new music release era, having spent years challenging norms and merging pop with rock through hits like "Gives You Hell" and "Dirty Little Secret." Their latest album, "Sandbox," marks their first release in over a decade.

The band’s return unfolded naturally, with much of the writing and recording conducted over Zoom—an approach that suits them better now that they are in their forties.

Nick stated, "It still felt just as collaborative as if we were, you know, maybe not all in the same room performing together, but at least all in a studio together." He described the process as still feeling "magical" despite the distance.

He added that they learned they could create music without uprooting their lives or living together for extended periods. Nick joked that cohabitation now might become "creepy very fast."

As for Download Festival, Nick raved about the crowds, recalling their festival experiences in the UK since 2003. He praised the festival's organization and how artists are treated, expressing excitement for what’s to come.

He declared, "It’s still at Donnington, it’s timeless, it’s some historical s***, and it’s exactly what a festival should be - It shouldn’t be this curated, Instagram Coachella experience."

Download 2026 is set for Donington Park, Leicestershire, from June 10-14. For more details, visit downloadfestival.co.uk.

“The crowds are insane at Download,” Nick exclaimed.
