Savannah Guthrie Urges Public to Assist in Search for Missing Mother Nancy: "A Moment of Urgency"
“We need your help,” Savannah Guthrie declared in a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, marking what she described as “an hour of desperation” in the ongoing search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for over a week.
In her emotional appeal, the “Today” show co-host expressed hope, stating, “We believe our mom is still out there.” She acknowledged the overwhelming support from the community, saying, “Thank you so much for all of the prayers and love that we have felt.” Savannah emphasized that she and her siblings believe their mother can feel the collective support during this challenging time.
“Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home,” she continued. “She was taken, and we don’t know where. We need your help.” Savannah urged anyone who might have information—regardless of their location—to report anything unusual to authorities.
The FBI is currently investigating two emails related to the case, one of which appears to be a ransom note with a deadline that has already passed. The demand for payment was made in bitcoin, but details remain scarce as authorities continue their investigation.
As of Monday, no suspects or persons of interest have been identified. Savannah and her siblings, Camron and Annie, released a poignant video over the weekend directed at whoever may have taken their 84-year-old mother from her Tucson home. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” Savannah implored. “This is the only way we will have peace.”
An FBI spokesperson confirmed that Savannah’s plea referenced a message sent to a local news station earlier in the week, which included a ransom demand. The station has chosen not to disclose further details out of respect for the family and ongoing investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to contact them at 520-882-7463. Investigators have been actively searching Nancy’s property, including examining a septic tank in her backyard. Additionally, FBI agents removed a camera from her home and towed a dark SUV from her garage as part of their inquiry.
In an effort to gather more evidence, investigators have also canvassed nearby gas stations for surveillance footage that may provide clues about Nancy’s whereabouts at the time she went missing.
