Sen. Mark Warner's Daughter Passes Away at 36 After Long Struggle with Health Issues
Madison Warner, aged 36, has passed away following a prolonged struggle with juvenile diabetes and various health complications, as confirmed by her father, U.S. Senator Mark Warner, D-Va., on Monday.
In a heartfelt statement, the senator and his wife, Lisa Collins, expressed their profound sorrow: "We are heartbroken beyond words by the passing of our beloved daughter ... after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues." The couple emphasized the love and joy Madison brought into their lives, noting that her absence creates an immeasurable void.
Warner's daughter maintained a private life, leading to limited public knowledge about her personal experiences. However, in 2019, the senator highlighted the struggles faced by individuals with Type 1 diabetes by sharing a BuzzFeed article on social media. He remarked, "As the father of a daughter with Juvenile Diabetes, this just breaks my heart," advocating for affordable insulin access.
As he campaigns for a fourth term representing Virginia, condolences have poured in from across the political landscape following the announcement of Madison's death. Vice President JD Vance, known for his policy disagreements with Warner, extended his sympathies via social media: "Our prayers are with Sen. Warner, his daughter, and their whole family. What a terrible loss at such a young age. May God comfort them."
Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger also shared her condolences: "My deepest condolences are with the Warner family as Mark and Lisa mourn their beloved daughter and Gillian and Eliza mourn their sister, Madison," she stated.
Senator Mike Lee from Utah described Madison's passing as "heartbreaking," urging others to join him in prayer for the Warner family during this difficult time.

Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va., reflected on the close bond between Warner and his family: "Anne and I have known Mark and Lisa for decades, and nothing in the world has ever mattered more to them than their daughters," he said. Kaine recalled meeting Madison when she was just ten years old and cherished the memories they created together.
