‘Slippery F**king Slope’: Rogan Blasts Trump’s DOJ for Indicting Comey Over ‘Silly’ Post
Joe Rogan unleashed a scathing critique of President Donald Trump following the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey over a seemingly innocuous social media post.
Earlier this week, Comey faced an indictment, accused of threatening the president's life through an image featuring the phrase “86 47” crafted from seashells on a beach. Authorities allege this constituted a threat against Trump.
In response, Comey dismissed the charges as politically motivated. “I’m still innocent, I’m still not afraid, and I still believe in the independent federal judiciary, so let’s go,” he stated, emphasizing that such actions do not reflect the values of the nation or the intended role of the Department of Justice.
On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan pivoted to the Comey indictment after expressing his discontent with the lack of accountability for associates of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. “The whole Epstein situation is insane; no one has faced justice. Meanwhile, Comey is arrested for a seashell photo that says '86 47,'” Rogan remarked.
He further argued that “86” is commonly understood as slang for being fired rather than killed. “If you get fired, what happened to Mike? He got 86ed. It doesn’t mean you got killed. But this is a crazy thing to arrest someone for,” he added, warning that such actions set a troubling precedent.
Rogan labeled Comey's post as “silly,” suggesting that if Trump truly believed Comey was corrupt, there should be more substantial evidence than this trivial image. “It’s nuts. You’re going after someone for something that’s just silly. 86 47 is get rid of 47. But it’s just like arresting a guy for that is just nuts,” he said.
Fellow comedian Mark Normand quipped, “Trump can take a shot, but not a joke.” Rogan echoed this sentiment, questioning the motives behind the indictment. “They’re just looking for any reason, but it seems like there should be other reasons. If the guy really was dirty you should have something on him other than this seashell picture,” he noted.
Once a vocal supporter of Trump, Rogan compared his discontent with the Comey indictment to his concerns regarding the administration's mass deportation tactics involving ICE agents targeting undocumented migrants.
Rogan elaborated:
This is my thing when people weren’t upset about ICE, people in the streets with masks on and no identification. I’m like, this sets a crazy precedent. Yeah, I understand you want the undocumented criminals out of the country. I agree. However, you’re setting a precedent for militarized people with seven weeks training to be walking around with f**king weapons of war and flak jackets with no ID and masks on. That’s all I’m saying. This is a slippery f**king slope you’re going down.
