Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has made his Super Bowl LX allegiance clear.
In a surprising shift from his earlier reluctance to disclose his favorite for the upcoming Super Bowl 60 clash between the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, Brady took to Instagram on February 6 to share his thoughts.
“You know I got your back RKK,” he posted, featuring a photo with Patriots owner Robert Kraft. “Get that 7th ring so we can match.”
In another post, Brady quipped, “I bet even Roger is rooting for you,” alongside an image of himself, Kraft, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Despite his recent endorsement, Brady had previously stated on the “Let’s Go!” Sirius XM podcast that he had no vested interest in the 2026 Super Bowl. “I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” he remarked, now a TV analyst and minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. “May the best team win.”
This neutral stance didn’t sit well with some former teammates. Vince Wilfork and Rob Gronkowski criticized Brady’s diplomatic response, labeling it as “bullcrap” and “political.”
“That’s bullcrap Tom,” Wilfork expressed during an interview on Boston radio station WEEI. “All that political — this ain’t political. It ain’t political, what it is. Raiders ain’t in it. Say what it is, what you see.”
A WEEI host suggested that if Brady truly wanted to be a “Patriot for life,” he should support his former team. Wilfork responded, “At the end of the day, if you’re a Patriot for life, you know what it is. Don’t give me that political bullcrap. If you don’t think we’re going to win, just pick Seattle then. Don’t straddle the fence.”
Gronkowski, speaking on the “Up & Adams” podcast with Kay Adams, noted he hadn’t discussed the Super Bowl with Brady and speculated that Brady’s reluctance might stem from his competitive nature. “He probably wants to be the quarterback,” Gronkowski said. “He’s that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.”
Gronkowski has already declared his support for the Patriots as they head into the big game.
Current Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who is dating rapper Cardi B, seemed unfazed by Brady’s comments. “Everybody’s different,” Diggs stated. “I don’t really think too much about it. Everybody’s opinion is everybody’s opinion. Tom won a lot in New England, but he’s also part-owner of the Raiders. So I don’t expect him to have a dog in the fight in this situation. Your time with a team doesn’t determine your future I guess.”
The highly anticipated Super Bowl LX kicks off on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on NBC.
