Trump Blames 'Disruptive' Rain for Epic Tantrum After Insulting Female TV Host
Donald Trump unleashed a furious tirade, blaming "disruptive" rain for his meltdown during a high-profile TV interview, where he insulted a female presenter as "crooked." NBC anchor Kristen Welker revealed the backstage chaos, stating Trump reached out to her the morning after the explosive clash, using the weather as an excuse.
The Orange Manbaby stormed out of their Meet the Press taping, throwing an epic tantrum. He later attempted to smooth things over by attributing his sour mood entirely to the rain.
Welker recounted her conversation with Trump, saying, "I spoke to him the morning after the interview, and without getting into an exact verbatim of what was said, he effectively said, 'Look, the rain was disruptive. We’re going to do this again in Washington.'
Despite the confrontation, the seasoned journalist remained unfazed. "I’ve covered President Trump since 2015 when he was a candidate, and it doesn’t faze me at all. It’s part of the conversation. I anticipate it to some extent," she stated.
Welker emphasized her focus on the content of her questions and obtaining answers on behalf of the American people. She acknowledged that the chat was "unfortunately complicated by weather issues" but insisted it was still "a substantial conversation."
The fiery interview took place in a Wisconsin barn after an agricultural event instead of its planned Washington, D.C. venue. Heavy rain pounded the metal roof of the makeshift studio, escalating tensions around the 35-minute mark when Welker pressed Trump on his claims regarding the 2020 election being rigged.
Losing his cool, Trump snapped at Welker, declaring she was either "crooked or stupid." When she pushed back, he escalated further, accusing her and major networks of being "one-sided crooked networks."
He abruptly cut the interview short, stating, "Let’s call it quits, because I’ve had enough…Thank you, darling. Have a good time." Welker attempted to protest, but Trump retorted, "I’ve sat in the rain with you for an hour. On and off in the rain. And I’ve given you enough time."
Trump has a history of targeting female members of the press. He previously insulted New York Times reporter Katie Rogers, calling her "ugly, both inside and out." He also attacked CBS News anchor Weijia Jiang, questioning her intelligence and dismissed Bloomberg journalist Catherine Lucey with the insult: "Quiet, piggy."
Just days before his Wisconsin outburst, Trump lashed out at CNN's Kaitlan Collins over a proposed $1.8 billion Department of Justice "anti-weaponization" fund aimed at aiding January 6 rioters. Gesturing at Collins, he labeled CNN as "a very corrupt organization," adding that she was a "young, beautiful woman" but never smiled and had "hatred in her eyes."
