Trump's Health Claims Spark Outrage: 'Liar' Accusations Fly

May 06 2026

President Donald Trump is back in the spotlight, and not for the reasons he might hope. During a press briefing this week, he made a jaw-dropping claim about his health that has left critics howling 'liar!'

At 79, the former president held court from the Oval Office on Tuesday, May 5, where he signed a memorandum aimed at reviving the Presidential Fitness Test Award. Surrounded by child athletes and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump took the opportunity to make a bold assertion about his own athletic prowess, raising eyebrows and ire alike.

In a clip that quickly went viral on social media, RFK Jr. praised the fitness levels of Trump's cabinet, suggesting many could tackle a grueling 50-mile hike. But Trump, not one to be overlooked, jumped in with a flourish, declaring, "What about me? You didn’t mention my name. I could do a 50-mile hike!"

Critics wasted no time in tearing apart his claim. Social media erupted with users sharing clips of Trump struggling to walk in a straight line, with one commenter bluntly stating, "He can’t even walk straight." Another chimed in with, "Hike 50 miles? He can’t even keep his eyes open sitting in a chair. One thing he IS good at is telling big fat lies. Everyone in the room knows he’s lying. He knows they know he’s lying."

But the drama didn’t stop there. Trump also faced backlash for what many deemed petty behavior during the same briefing. When he asked a young female athlete about her sport and learned she played volleyball, he appeared to mock her height, suggesting she wouldn’t be able to jump high enough to hit the ball over the net.

One social media user slammed him for bullying a child for laughs, saying, "This is who he is. Petty, insecure, and completely unfit for any position of leadership. Kids deserve encouragement, not humiliation from a grown man." Another added, "He just has ZERO tact. It doesn’t matter if he’s talking to an adult reporter or a six-year-old. Pathetic."

As if that wasn’t enough to stir the pot, Trump also veered into a bizarre rant about the 2020 election during his remarks to the young athletes. He claimed the vote was manipulated and rambled on about his supposed victories: "I said, 'Oh wow. I’m not going to be president.' Six years. I wasn’t the president. I thought I’d easily win the presidency, which, by the way, I did. And unfortunately, bad things happened. It was a rigged election."

He continued with an almost surreal confidence: "Well, I said, 'I’ll do it again.' In the polls, I did so well. I had the ultimate poll. We won in a landslide. We won every single swing state. We won the popular vote. We won everything you could win. I ended up with the Olympics. I ended up with the World Cup. And probably, more importantly, we have the 250th anniversary of America."

With each statement, Trump seems to be courting controversy like an old friend—bold claims met with swift rebuttals and a public eager to dissect every word.
