Trump Shrugs Off Economic Woes While Negotiating with Iran
Donald Trump just dropped a bombshell during a CNN segment that left jaws on the floor. The former president casually declared that the ongoing economic crisis in the U.S. is irrelevant to his negotiations with Iran.
On May 12, as he prepared to board Air Force One for a trip to China, Trump faced a horde of reporters outside the White House. When asked about the financial struggles plaguing Americans and how they might affect his talks with Iran, he delivered a shocking response that turned heads.

“Not even a little bit,” Trump shot back, dismissing the connection entirely. “The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran: they can’t have a nuclear weapon.” He then added, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situations. I don’t think about anybody.” Talk about cold!
His comments come on the heels of a fiery post on Truth Social, where he took aim at a Fox News reporter. The audacity! As inflation continues to rise, Americans are feeling the heat in their wallets. Just hours before Trump’s remarks, CNN anchor Boris Sanchez revealed that U.S. prices surged 0.6% in April, pushing annual inflation to 3.8%. Gasoline prices alone skyrocketed by 5.4%!

“Americans are feeling the pinch just about everywhere,” Sanchez lamented, highlighting the grim reality of rising costs across the board—airfare up 2.8%, groceries climbing 0.7%, and housing costs also on the rise.
In a recent CNN poll, frustrated Americans voiced their discontent, with one respondent bluntly stating, “It’s more expensive to exist.” Meanwhile, tensions escalated in the Middle East as U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran, resulting in significant casualties, including the death of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Trump confirmed Khamenei's death and vowed that U.S. military operations would continue unabated. “The heavy and pinpoint bombing will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!” he proclaimed on Truth Social.
At Trump National Doral days after the strikes began, he expressed optimism that the conflict would wrap up “very soon,” yet insisted that military action would persist “until the enemy is totally and decisively defeated.” With a ceasefire currently in place, the U.S. and Iran remain at an impasse, leaving many to wonder what’s next in this high-stakes game.
