Trump Sparks Conservative Fury with Transgender Surgery Stance

President Donald Trump faced immediate backlash from conservative circles after a Thursday post on Truth Social endorsed transgender surgery for minors, contingent upon parental consent.

His original statement read, “NO TRANSGENDER MUTILATION SURGERY FOR CHILDREN, WITHOUT THE EXPRESS WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE PARENTS,” as part of his promotion for the Save America Act, which also includes voter ID requirements aimed at addressing unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, once an ally and now a vocal critic, spearheaded the outrage. She shared a screenshot of the controversial post, which was subsequently altered, and expressed her dismay: “Trump now supports transgender mutilation surgeries of children if their parents want it!!!!!”

“What is wrong with him??? To do this to a child is absolutely disgusting, wrong, and a complete perversion of God’s creation AND NOW THE PRESIDENT SAYS ITS OK AS LONG AS THESE SICK PARENTS AGREE!!!” she continued in her tirade.

Right-wing commentator Matt Walsh added his voice to the fray.

“‘No trans surgery for children without parental consent’ is meaningless,” he stated. “The consent of the parents is not the issue. The issue is that the procedure is barbaric and insane, no matter if parents agree to it or not.”

Shortly after the uproar, Trump’s message was revised to simply state, “NO TRANSGENDER MUTILATION SURGERY FOR CHILDREN.”

Greene asserted that the initial inclusion of parental consent was intentional and that the change was a direct response to “huge backlash!!!”

“Don’t be stupid and think that it was a mistake or a staffer,” she wrote. “He was forced to change it because we all made him. Just like we forced him on the Epstein files.”

Her claims resonate with Trump’s previous statements. In a 2024 interview with Bloomberg, he remarked, “We don’t want transgender operations without parental consent. It is 99.9% common sense. It really is common sense.”

As the 2024 election approaches, GOP operatives have reportedly allocated $222 million towards messaging against transgender issues and the LGBTQ+ community. Throughout his second term, Trump has enacted various measures affecting this demographic.

The White House has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this matter.
