Vanilla Ice's Freedom 250 Concert Axed Amidst Claims of Disastrous Attendance
Vanilla Ice's performance was yanked just hours before showtime, leaving Donald Trump to face yet another public relations disaster at the Freedom 250 celebration.
The rapper was set to headline the 'I Love the 90s!' event on June 26 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. However, organizers pulled the plug less than two hours before he was due to hit the stage as heavy rain battered the festival.
Critics on X slammed the cancellation, alleging it stemmed from dismal attendance rather than the downpour. A festival worker, identified as Joe, a Safety Ambassador, confirmed, "We are not opening this up until tomorrow." This cancellation follows a revealing look at the Great American State Fair, showcasing Trump's 'Temu' arch and eerily vacant attractions.

When pressed about rescheduling, Joe stated, "It looks like the event is canceled today, yes, for weather conditions," adding, "I don’t know any other information besides that we are closing and we will not be opening back up today."
Rain began pouring around 5 PM in the U.S. Capitol, just two hours before Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, was slated to perform at 7 PM.
A billboard at the event warned attendees of a "severe thunderstorm approaching," urging them to "take appropriate precautions" as conditions worsened.
One disappointed visitor described the cancellation as "disappointing," echoing sentiments from others who lamented the washed-out show.

The official Freedom 250 X account declared that the event would remain closed for the evening and would reopen on Saturday at 10 AM.
Critics were quick to attribute the closure to lackluster attendance. One user on X remarked, "When nobodies interested in your bulls--t fair you take a short rain as an excuse to close it down," while another added, "And no one was there anyway."
A third critic stated, "Excuses for poor attendance & malfunctions. It’s not supposed to rain until 11 tonight. It’s beautiful & sunny right now." Another fumed, "In other words no one's coming so let’s cancel and try again tomorrow. All these events were promoted as rain or shine but when attendance is dismal got to change it up."

The cancellation of Vanilla Ice's show adds to a growing list of performers who have backed out of Trump's festival celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, and Morris Day and The Time.
Despite backlash for participating in the Trump-backed event, the 58-year-old rapper shrugged off fan concerns, stating to TMZ, "I don’t even vote, so I don’t even care."
He even claimed he would perform if former President Joe Biden invited him, saying, "I’d go play. It’s not a big thing. You play for your fans. You know, we don’t get a chance to pick our fans. They pick us. And I’ll go play for Putin and I’ll play in Iran if you want. It don’t matter."
Vanilla Ice's performance was scheduled for 7 PM.
