Widower of Late Aide Blasts GOP Congressman’s 'Family Values' Amid Affair Allegations: 'A Disturbed Individual'
Adrian Aviles, the husband of a congressional aide who tragically took her own life last year, has publicly condemned Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) for his claims of “family values” amidst allegations of an affair with his late wife, Regina Santos-Aviles.
“This man has no values,” Aviles asserted during an interview with Erin Burnett. “He campaigns on family values, presenting himself as a family man, but in reality, he’s quite a disturbed individual.”
Calls for Gonzales to resign or halt his reelection campaign have intensified following the emergence of text messages from 2024 between him and Santos-Aviles. One message reportedly included a request for a “sexy pic,” raising serious ethical questions.
In response to the allegations, Gonzales has denied any wrongdoing, claiming he is a victim of blackmail and refusing to step down. “What you’ve seen is not all the facts,” he told CNN’s Manu Raju.
Aviles recounted the devastating impact of the affair on his marriage, revealing that his wife fell into a deep depression before her tragic death by self-immolation. “I’m not saying he directly caused it, but he certainly played a role,” Aviles stated. “He preyed on my wife and pushed her into an affair. The released messages make that clear.”
Frustration boiled over for Aviles as he reacted to Gonzales’ denial, which he described as “infuriating.” He accused the congressman of deflecting responsibility and hinted at more damaging evidence yet to be revealed. “What I’ve shared is just the tip of the iceberg regarding what this man was telling her,” he said.

Aviles emphasized his primary concern is his son’s well-being, indicating he has withheld more explicit messages that are “far more graphic” than those already disclosed. “I’m not motivated by politics; I care about the truth,” he insisted. “Gonzales continues to lie about Regina, and he’s boldly misrepresented everything. If he thinks the facts will come out, he should be worried about what I have yet to release.”
His remarks underscore a growing tension surrounding Gonzales’ political future as more details emerge about his alleged misconduct and its tragic consequences.
