Alleged Cannibal Ate Himself on ICE Deportation Flight, Kristi Noem Says

Jul 01 2025

During a recent press conference, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem detailed a shocking incident involving an alleged cannibal who reportedly attempted to harm himself while being deported. This revelation came as Noem spoke alongside President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, focusing on the newly established migrant detention facility in Florida, informally known as "Alligator Alcatraz."

Noem recounted the bizarre event, which was communicated to her by U.S. Marshals collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "They said that they had detained a cannibal and put him on a plane to take him home. And while they had him in his seat, he started to eat himself," she explained, emphasizing the need for immediate medical intervention.

The incident, according to Noem, underscores the dangers posed by certain individuals entering the United States. "These are the kind of deranged individuals that are on our streets in America that we're trying to target and get out of our country," she stated, expressing concern for community safety and the well-being of families.

In her remarks, Noem criticized the previous administration's immigration policies, asserting that they allowed dangerous individuals to enter the country. "Former President Biden let the worst of the worst come in here," she claimed, highlighting the urgency of increased deportations.

As part of her broader message, Noem called for a concerted effort to remove violent offenders from American streets. "We are going after murderers and rapists and traffickers and drug dealers," she affirmed, reinforcing her commitment to public safety.

In addition to discussing the incident, Noem praised law enforcement and military personnel for their roles in apprehending criminals. She urged other governors to emulate Florida's approach to immigration enforcement, saying, "I hope my phone rings off the hook from governors calling and saying, β€˜How can we do what Florida just did?’”

The "Alligator Alcatraz" facility is described by Noem as a "state-of-the-art" center with a capacity of 3,000 beds. It aims to expedite the deportation process for individuals violating U.S. laws. "It will allow us to bring individuals across the country that we are bringing in and incarcerating for violating our laws and immediately get them out of the country as soon as we possibly can," she noted.

As the discussion unfolded, Noem reiterated the importance of addressing immigration issues effectively. "It's exactly what we need to be perpetuating in other states," she concluded, advocating for a unified approach to immigration enforcement across the nation.

Requests for comments from DHS, ICE, and U.S. Marshals regarding the incident have yet to receive a response.
