Anderson Cooper Obliterates Trump’s Misogynistic Attack on Kaitlan Collins
Anderson Cooper slammed President Donald Trump for his outrageous personal attack on CNN colleague Kaitlan Collins, calling it “completely unwarranted.”
Cooper cut to the core of Trump’s behavior, stating, “This doesn’t happen to men.”
“I’m not asking Kaitlan about this because she’s got actual work to do, and she doesn’t need to be answering questions about this kind of behavior,” Cooper asserted. He highlighted the absurdity of a nearly 80-year-old man, the President of the United States, commenting on a young woman’s physical appearance and instructing her to smile. “No one’s ever said that to me in an office setting,” he added. Collins stood there doing her job, surrounded by non-smiling men, yet she was singled out.
Cooper aired a clip of Trump’s bizarre pivot during a press conference, where he abandoned a question about the shelved Anti-Weaponization Fund to target Collins, who remained silent in the Oval Office.
“CNN’s a very corrupt organization, but with a corrupt reporter standing right there,” Trump declared. He continued, “Never smiles. ... She’s a young, beautiful woman. Never smiles. I never see a smile on her face. I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes.” Trump attributed her supposed hatred to his policies on borders, military strength, and tax cuts.
Cooper showcased a supercut of Trump’s repeated belittling of Collins and other female reporters, questioning journalist Tara Palmeri about the pattern.
“It’s just bizarre that this is something he does over and over and over again,” Cooper remarked. “... And I think people do it to women all the time.”
Palmeri responded, “What you are seeing is a day in the life of a woman. She’s a powerful woman, and he’s objectifying her, and he’s using a misogynistic comment about her appearance to belittle her.”
