AOC Unveils Unexpected Commentary on Trump's Golfing Amid Iran Conflict

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) made headlines Monday with her candid remarks regarding Donald Trump’s golfing habits during a time of conflict with Iran, a situation that has reportedly cost taxpayers over $100 million, according to a recent analysis.

In an interview with MeidasTouch Network’s Pablo Manríquez, Ocasio-Cortez expressed her dismay at Trump’s choice to hit the golf course while the nation grapples with rising tensions and economic pressures. “It’s awful that this guy’s playing golf,” she stated, emphasizing the need for presidential focus during critical times.

However, her commentary took an intriguing turn. “But in a way, we’re already seeing that some of the most important military decision-makers in the country are trying to keep him out of consequential decisions,” she noted, referencing a Wall Street Journal report that suggested aides excluded Trump from key discussions during a sensitive operation to rescue downed airmen in Iran. The report indicated that officials believed his impatience could hinder effective decision-making.

“So, in some ways, you kind of want this guy on a golf course more than you want him in the Oval Office,” Ocasio-Cortez added, highlighting a complex perspective on leadership and decision-making.

She further questioned the implications of this situation on Trump’s presidency, stating, “That also calls into question the 25th Amendment, because if the determination is that Donald Trump cannot be trusted in the Situation Room and in unfolding scenarios, then he’s not fit to be president.”

In light of these concerns, Democratic lawmakers, spearheaded by Rep. Jamie Raskin (Md.), are advocating for a commission to explore the potential application of the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office if deemed unfit.

The discourse surrounding Trump’s mental fitness has intensified recently, fueled by his controversial actions, including public disputes with figures like Pope Leo XIV and sharing provocative content online. Notably, he has not received any formal diagnosis regarding his mental health.

Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary under Biden, weighed in last week, dismissing the likelihood of invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump. She questioned why Democrats are “spending so much time” on this issue, asserting that “it’s not going to happen.”
