Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton just dropped a bombshell on the “Great Company with Jamie Long” podcast, admitting he’s been lowballing his haircut fees. Forget the $100,000 he previously claimed—it's a jaw-dropping $200,000!

“I said 100 because I was afraid of what everyone would say. I said it, and then I was scared,” Appleton confessed, peeling back the curtain on his high-stakes world.
At 42, the stylist known for taming Kim Kardashian's iconic locks defended his eye-popping price tag. “There’s plenty of times I do work for free. There’s plenty of times I don’t get paid that amount of money,” he explained, hinting at the unpredictable nature of celebrity hairstyling.

Breaking down the hefty sum, Appleton revealed, “It was a lot of traveling, and it was a whole commitment. So when you break it down, it’s not as much.” But wait—there’s more! With a staggering 50 percent tax rate in America, plus 20 percent for his agent and another five for his business manager, the reality of his earnings hits hard.

He echoed similar sentiments back in January on the “U Up?” podcast, where he lamented how taxes and deductions slice into his net earnings like a hot knife through butter.
But it’s not all smooth sailing for Appleton. Recently, he faced backlash from Kardashian herself over her controversial 2022 Met Gala look, where she channeled Marilyn Monroe with a slicked-back blonde ‘do.

In a candid vlog during this year’s final fitting, Kardashian, 45, didn’t hold back. “We had too much going on. You were doing every family member,” she scolded Appleton and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. “We weren’t focused.”

Pulling up a photo from that fateful day, she quipped, “Everyone f—ked up here. Let’s just say that.”
As Appleton and Dedivanovic exchanged playful jabs about their styling choices—eyeliner disasters and hair blunders—Kardashian chimed in: “It was all about the hair. I’ll fight you on that until the day I die.”

“I think about it once a week,” she admitted, clearly still haunted by that look.

At the time, Appleton was all about those lighter locks. “I love a blonde Kim. I think it’s so interesting how a color can change the colors of the clothes you wear and it really changes your makeup. You can really reinvent things,” he told E! News.
So there you have it—the glamorous yet gritty reality behind a $200K haircut. Who knew hair could come with such a hefty price tag?
