“Late Show” kingpin Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back Tuesday night, ripping into the $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” set up for Donald Trump. He claims it’s not just bad—it’s a full-blown disaster.
Created as part of a settlement from Trump’s outrageous $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS, this fund is meant to compensate alleged victims of “weaponization and lawfare.” But who qualifies? Colbert pointed out that it could include the very rioters who stormed the Capitol, smeared feces on the walls, assaulted law enforcement, and even attempted to hang Vice President Mike Pence.
“That means cash could be flowing to those who wreaked havoc,” Colbert quipped, before making a bold prediction.
“But they won’t see a dime,” he declared. “Trump’s going to steal it all.”
Colbert highlighted a jaw-dropping clause in the agreement: “Once the funds are deposited into the Designated Account, the United States has no liability whatsoever for the protection or safeguarding of those funds, regardless of bank failure, fraudulent transfers, or any other fraud or misuse of the funds.”
He dubbed it an “all-you-can-fraud buffet” and slammed it as “an unprecedented level of grift.”
“Funds of this magnitude are usually established by Congress or monitored by a court,” he added. “Instead, this settlement is just a flimsy piece of paper allowing Trump to do whatever he wants with your money.”
