Comatose Bride Awakens Days Before Wedding After Botched Treatment

A bride-to-be's dream wedding turned into a nightmare when she slipped into a coma just months before her big day. Wang Ranran, 24, from Taian, China, was set to marry her fiancé Zhang Xirui on April 25, but fate had other plans.

It all began innocently enough. Wang developed a sore throat and, seeking relief, visited a local clinic with Zhang. A quick consultation led to an injection, but the staff failed to check for allergies during a routine skin test. A catastrophic oversight that would change everything.

Within minutes of the injection, Wang's health plummeted. Zhang watched in horror as she became numb, vomited, and struggled to breathe. By the time paramedics arrived, she was in complete body shock.

Doctors later diagnosed her with a severe allergic reaction that caused total respiratory failure and brain oxygen deprivation for over four minutes—an event that likely inflicted irreversible damage.

Investigations revealed that the injector lacked proper medical training, and the prescribing doctor was reportedly unlicensed. The clinic has since been shut down, but not before Wang's family racked up medical bills exceeding 700,000 yuan (£77,000) while caring for her in a vegetative state for over three months.

Then came a glimmer of hope. On April 23, just two days before the wedding, Wang opened her eyes and smiled at Zhang. Though she remains unable to speak or move, her fiancé was overwhelmed with emotion. “Her beautiful eyes finally have life in them,” he said, fighting back tears.

Despite the grim circumstances, Zhang clings to hope. “Once you put on your wedding dress, I will be there to marry you,” he promised, vowing to stand by her side through this harrowing ordeal.

The case is still under investigation, and further legal action is anticipated against the clinic. For now, the couple's love story hangs in the balance, teetering between tragedy and a miraculous recovery.
